Koderma, May 17: The wildlife administration of Hazaribag and the Koderma police have cracked down on the illegal mining of mica. Six JCB and Seven Shaktiman trucks have been seized in a joint raid conducted by the wildlife administration and Koderma police in Lom Chachi forest under the Koderma police station near Lokai late last night.

The joint operation was led by DFO Hazaribag Avinash Chaudhary.

Talking to media in Koderma,  DFO Avinash said that no arrest could be made in the operation although vehicles used by mafias have been seized. Miscreants might have fled away from the site before the raid team reached, he added.

Responding to media query, the DFO claimed that illegal mining was being executed at night to evade the raid. Input regarding illegal mining was being reported. On the basis of the input, a plan was chalked out and the time for the raid was fixed late at night.

Notably, local personnel of the wildlife department of Koderma were not involved in the operation.
