Hazaribag police arrest three smugglers with 2kg of opium

Hazaribag, Dec 25: Three Chatra-based smugglers who were part of an interstate gang, were arrested with two kilogram of commercial quality opium, police said on Sunday.

The trio was nabbed from a private bus stand on Saturday evening when trying to board a Delhi-based bus. Sadar subdivisional police officer Mahesh Prajapati confirmed the arrest and said the trio were going to Bareilly to supply this 2 kg consignment of opium.

Prajapati said superintendent of police Manoj Ratan Chauthe got a tip-off about the trio smugglers’ presence in a Private bus stand in town. A team was formed led by Prajapati and assisted by Bara Bazar police station police, Ghanshyam Kumar who raided the bus stand.

The trio was arrested from the spot with 2 kilogram of opium. Even four mobiles and Rs1420 were also found from them.

Trio identified as Santosh Kumar Dangi, Chotu Lal Dangi and Lekhraj Kumar, residents of Pathalgada. They admitted selling drugs in bigger cities on higher rates.
