Hazaribag, March 4: In a major action against the inter-state liquor mafia today, police arrested two and recovered goods in huge quantities to make spurious liquor. The action came on the basis of a tip-off received by SP Rakesh Ranjan.
In this action, police arrested two members of the gang along with the goods used in making spurious poisonous English liquor on a large scale.
A special team formed under the leadership of Itkhori police station in-charge Niranjan Mishra recovered the goods from a passenger bus named Vijay Rath coming from Kolkata during a vehicle checking drive.
The checking was done near Bhurkunda forest on Itkhori-Chatra main road. The recovered goods included holograms, sealing caps, bar codes of Royal Stag and MC Devils company, and two fake electronic bills beside a bike used in smuggling.
The police official said smugglers hatched a conspiracy to supply spurious liquor in Bihar and other states during Holi by putting real stickers, bar codes and caps. They said SP’s accurate information foiled the plan of smugglers.
DSP Headquarters Kedarnath Ram confirmed the recovery followed by arrest. The arrested duo are identified as Laxman Dangi and Jitendra Kumar Dangi, both residents of Pitij village.
