Dhanbad, Mar 15: The Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) Hazaribag is well set to become the second university of the state to get a 2nd cycle of NAAC accreditation.
VBU vice-chancellor Dr Mukul Narayan Dev giving this information said that the university has already submitted the Self Study Report (SSR) and Students Satisfaction Survey (SSS) successfully for the 2nd Cycle. Now the NAAC team is to come for evaluation.
“If all goes as per plan, VBU would get the 2nd cycle grade of NAAC in two months. University submitted SSR on January 4 and SSS report on February 4 for the 2nd Cycle. The fee has already been deposited for the team’s inspection,” the VC added.
Till date among 7 universities in Jharkhand, only Kolhan University Chaibasa has got the 2nd Cycle of NAAC. Official sources said Kolhan University got a ‘C’ grade and would have to get it again.
VBU got its first NAAC Cycle in March 2016 and became eligible for the 2nd Cycle after five years in 2021. “Dr Ramesh Sharan (the then vice-chancellor) had started the preparation for 2nd Cycle. But two years of Covid period watered down on our preparation,” said Dr Mukul Narayan Dev.
Changes in the NAAC system also delayed the 2nd Cycle of VBU. The university had prepared offline but NAAC made the online process for submitting the report after 2021.
VBU registrar Dr BK Gupta said not only for the university, but they are also preparing for the 2nd Cycle of its colleges.
Notably, VBU has a total of 74 colleges including 18 constituent units. Among 18 constituent units, all nine old colleges including JJ College Jhumaritilaya, KB Womens’ College Hazaribagh, RK Mahila College Giridih, Giridih College, ST Columba College Hazaribagh, Adarsh College Rajdhanwar, Chatra College, Markham College of Commerce and Ramgarh College have completed 1st Cycle. Two institutions Ramgarh College and Giridih College have the 2nd Cycle of NAAC.
Other nine new constituent colleges of the university are yet to get 1st Cycle. As per officials, NAAC Grading is conducted only after 5 years of establishment.
Registrar Dr Gupta said there are 31 affiliated colleges in the university among them 13 have 1st Cycle. Annada College has the 2nd Cycle of NAAC. Even eight BEd colleges of university out of 25 have 1st NAAC Cycle.
“Besides encouraging NAAC Cycle to colleges, the university is also providing technical and administrative support to them for it. University holds regular meetings with principals of colleges and has set up Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) cell in each institution for preparation”, said Registrar Dr Gupta.
