Hazaribag, Jan 3: Raiyats of NTPC’s Chatti Bariatu coal mine project is again facing protests from villagers who are demanding better compensation and rehabilitation policy. Assembled in Jhumritand maidan of Keredari, villagers raised slogan against NTPC which own two projects including Pankri Barwadih and Chatti Bariatu.
Former agriculture minister Yogendra Saw, who came out from jail recently, is backing this agitation through his Birsa Sena. He has announced to stop the mining work at Chatti Bariatu mines.
Supporting villagers, Barkagaon MLA Amba Prasad said the Chatti Bariatu project is illegal and so mining is also illegal. She said NTPC is not following the government guidelines on compensation and rehabilitation policy.
According to her, NTPC will have to follow the land acquisition of 2013 and give proper compensation to the raiyats.
