Hazaribag, Oct 14: With two more deaths reported in the live wire tragedy which took place in the Chhavania village in Sirma panchayat of Barkagaon block, the death toll now reached to three.
Barkagaon MLA Amba Prasad reached one of the victims to the house of 17-year-old Mohammad Sarfaraz and consoled his family.
On Sunday, members of the Muslim community had taken out a procession in the Chhavania village which came in contact with an 11000-volt live wire, killing one on the spot and injuring eight others.

Now, two more deaths have been reported including one of Sarfaraz and one other 40-year-old Mohammad Abdulla who was a daily wage labourer by profession. He is survived by two minor sons and a wife. He was the only breadwinner of the family which also comprises of elderly parents.
The deaths have sparked anger among local residents who said this was the fault of the electricity department which failed to tighten the loose 11000-volt wire which touched the procession of Milad-Un-Nabi, resulting in the big incident on Sunday. The villagers said that the electricity department neither announced compensation nor any help in the treatment of injured ones.
Barkagaon Block Development Officer Jitendra Kumar Pandey who went to meet Sarfaraz’s family said they will get Rs 5 lakh compensation besides other benefits as per government help.
