Dhanbad Oct 28: After checking Covid cases in the district, Dhanbad’s Health Department has decided to administer Covishield vaccination at night for office goers in the district.
Dhanbad civil surgeon (CS), Dr. Shyam Kishore Kant said that the health department has in this regard selected four centers where vaccination would be administered for people from 5-9 p.m. every day in the first phase of this plan.
“For the time being, we have selected Sadar hospital and IIT Indian School of Mines Shopping Complex as the night vaccination centres. Two other centres would be selected soon to start this special vaccination drive,” said Dr. Shyam.
Vaccination is already being administered at the above mentioned centres during the daytime.
When asked about the reason behind starting this night vaccination drive, the CS said that there are several office goers who have to miss their vaccination in the daytime because of work. So, this night facility is being made available for such people so that they can get their vaccines easily.
“Moreover vaccination facility in the evening would help the health department to cover people more than the given target by the state health department per day”, he added.
As per the official record, Dhanbad has been given a target of administering vaccination to 18,000 people per day by the state health department.
“We have set up 70 centers in the district to administer Covid vaccination and on an average, 16,000 to 17,000 people are covered per day. But this number depends on the availability of vaccines too. We have even achieved more than the given target (total 21,000) on a single day,” said Dr Vikash Rana, district vaccination in-charge.
Dr. Rana also said that Dhanbad has covered 15.50 lakh people so far under the Covid vaccination drive which started on January 16 in the district.
