Hazaribag, Oct 19: Two dengue patients were found in Chatra who are residents of Nagwa mohalla of the town. Health officials said that a couple with the symptom of dengue visited them for treatment. Their blood test followed by a dengue test through the kit confirmed dengue. Both have been sent to home isolation their treatment id on under the guidance of government doctors.
Officials said both travelled to Patna and its surrounding areas and came to Chatra last week. After returning, they fell ill with high fever and body aches. The duo came to Sadar hospital where doctors advised a dengue test which came positive yesterday.
“We are monitoring them,” the doctors said. They also appealed to residents to keep their surroundings clean beside ensure no water logging in their area to remain safe from dengue.
District epidemic control officer Dr Ashutosh Kumar confirmed the dengue patients in the district. He told lagatar24.com that the couple came to Sadar hospital where they were advised the complete blood count test. “The reports showed their platelet count was very low (around 78000) after which we advised them to go for a dengue test through the kit. Their test came positive and as a precautionary measure, we advised them home isolation,” he said.
Dr Ashutosh said their condition is now stable. “I have ordered fogging and spraying in Nagwa mohalla where the couple is living,” he informed. Sources said the health department came on high alert after two dengue cases were detected in the district.
