Jamshedpur, June 12: There will be no respite from scorching weather conditions, at least till June 15, Thursday as the prevailing heat wave in Jharkhand is expected to continue till such time.
IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a bulletin on heat waves saying that some pockets of the state would continue to experience heat waves with the day’s reading notching five degree Celsius above normal.
Today too, most places across the state woke up to heat and humidity resulting in high discomfort index and disrupting normal life.
Weathermen said thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by strong surface wind (speed: 30-40 kmph) is likely to occur at isolated places over eastern parts of the state today.
An alert of thunderstorms and lightning with strong surface wind is also issued for the next two to three days in isolated places over the state.
Meteorological statistics revealed that Jamshedpur topped the Celsius chart of the state in the last 24 -hours with the local weather office recording 43.2°C.
This was followed by Daltongang which recorded 43°C.
Ranchi recorded 39.6 degrees Celsius. Bokaro, Deoghar, Garhwa, Giridih, Godda, Simdega and Ramgarh recorded 40 degrees Celsius and above in the past 24- hours.
