Jamshedpur, Aug 8: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of heavy rain especially in southern Jharkhand in the next 24 hours.

Weathermen said a low pressure over northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha – West Bengal coasts has intensified into a well-marked low pressure. An associated cyclonic circulation was also extending up to 7.6 Km above the mean sea level.

According to weathermen, the cyclonic circulation is likely to concentrate into a depression during the next 48 hours and move northwestward across Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Jaisalmer, Kota, Durg and north Andhra Pradesh.

Today’s forecast suggested light to moderate rain over Jharkhand with thunder and lightning at isolated places.

Jharkhand’s rain deficit as of today stood at 48 per cent. Against a normal of 581.9 mm, the state has so far received 303.8 mm, leading to such heavy deficit rainfall.
