Hazaribag, May 26: After heavy downpouring and storm which uprooted trees in large numbers, bent electric poles and cracked overhead electric wires, the town is having no power for the last 24 hours. This has resulted in big trouble for people who are facing difficulties, especially for water.

On each and every road, work is going on to remove the fallen trees and to repair the electricity supply network.

A senior power officer said that from the last evening’s rain, the department has suffered a huge loss as a high-speed storm twisted many poles snapping overhead wires. The lake area from where the maximum supply wires have passed witnessed maximum damage. It is a big challenge for our team to complete the repair work at its earliest, he added.

Sources said the district administration has also asked officials to at least ensure the supply of power as soon as possible seeing the difficulties of the local people.

Many people in town said such damages take place every year due to heavy rain. The demand of the time is to go for underground power supply network, added they.
