Ranchi, July 8: Former chief minister and BJP state president Babulal Marandi today described the BJP state office gherao programme organised by tribal organisations as a political gimmick sponsored by the Hemant government.

Marandi stated that those laying siege to the BJP state office should first gheroa Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s residence.  He claimed that Soren has tortured tribals the most in their name.

“The massacre of tribals in Chaibasa welcomed the Hemant government. The Hemant government’s gift is the murder of promising tribal sub inspector Roopa Tirkey, the murder of constable Sandhya Topno by cattle smugglers and the murder of Rameshwar Murmu, a descendant of Sido Kanho,” he said.

Marandi said that during the last three and a half years of the Hemant Soren’s rule, more than 5500 sisters and daughters were raped. Most of them are tribals and Dalits, he added.

He said that Rubika Paharia, a daughter of primitive tribes, was brutally murdered; a tribal girl student was brutally gang-raped in a car in Mandar; trainee women were raped in Khunti, but the Chief Minister did not consider it appropriate to meet them.

He said that the anti-tribal-Dalit face of the Hemant government has been exposed time and again. “That’s why the Chief Minister should apologize to the tribal society for this,” he added.

Marandi said that strict legal action has been taken by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the Madhya Pradesh incident of which is being blown up. The Chief Minister has apologized by washing the feet of the victim, he added.

He said that if Hemant Soren has the courage, he should apologize to the society and the victim’s family for his anti-tribal-Dalit acts.
