Ranchi: Jharkhand CM-designate Hemant Soren met with Governor CP Radhakrishnan on Thursday to invite him to his oath-taking ceremony. Hemant Soren will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand for the third time on Thursday evening, following his election by party leaders and allies on Wednesday.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the Raj Bhavan at 5 PM.
Champai Soren, Hemant Soren’s close aide who assumed the Chief Minister’s role following Hemant’s arrest on January 31, stepped down after the meeting. Reports indicate that Champai Soren resigned reluctantly.
Hemant Soren’s return to office comes just before the assembly polls scheduled for November-December. However, he believes the elections may be held earlier to benefit the BJP.
Hemant Soren was released on bail on June 28, following his involvement in a land scam case. Upon his release, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s partners in the INDIA and Jharkhand Mahagathbandhan alliances congratulated him and criticized the central government, accusing it of a witchhunt against him.
