Ranchi: BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo has raised concerns over the alleged involvement of anti-national forces during the recently concluded Jharkhand Assembly elections. Shahdeo pointed to a suspicious statement issued by the CPI Maoists, where they congratulated the people of Jharkhand on the defeat of the NDA.
According to reports, Azad, the chief spokesperson of the Maoists’ Eastern Regional Bureau, issued a statement expressing joy over the BJP’s loss. Shahdeo questioned the intentions behind such reactions from a banned extremist organization that historically opposes electoral democracy.
Suspicion Over Maoist Activities
“The same Maoists who urged a boycott of the elections through distributed pamphlets are now celebrating the defeat of a specific political party. How can an organization that rejects elections be so pleased with a particular outcome? Was there a larger conspiracy orchestrated behind the scenes during the elections?” Shahdeo asked during his statement.
He further highlighted the unprecedented nature of this situation, where a banned organization, known for undermining national unity and integrity, expressed such sentiments. Shahdeo emphasized the need for a high-level investigation into these developments.
NGOs Under Scrutiny
Shahdeo also alleged that several NGOs, involved in illegal activities, played a suspicious role during the elections. He claimed that some foreign-funded NGOs, accused of promoting anti-national activities, worked extensively to ensure the defeat of BJP and its alliance candidates.
“These NGOs are not focused on serving the common man but are interfering directly in the political process, which is highly unfortunate,” he stated.
Demand for Stringent Action
Shahdeo reiterated the BJP’s long-standing demand for a probe into NGOs allegedly promoting activities like religious conversions and other illegal practices. He called upon both the central and state governments to investigate the activities of such organizations during the elections and take strict measures to curb their influence.
