Ranchi: Several Home Guard personnel from Dhanbad, Palamu, and Chatra, among other districts, have approached the Jharkhand High Court challenging their forced retirement before reaching the prescribed age limit of 60 years.

A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed by Ram Lakhan Prasad Das and other affected personnel, urging the court to nullify the retirement orders issued by the department.

Allegations in the Petition

The petition states that several Home Guard personnel were compulsorily retired before completing the age of 60, violating the established service regulations.

The Jharkhand Home Guard Welfare Association, along with petitioner Ram Lakhan Prasad Das, has filed the PIL through advocate Kumar Harsh.

As of now, the petition has not yet been listed for a hearing. The affected personnel seek intervention from the courtto revoke the premature retirement orders and reinstate their service rights.
