Ramgarh, Mar 26: A man named Rajesh Sonkar shot his wife Vandana Devi (27) in the head in Mallah Toli locality of Hazaribagh Bada Bazar TOP area on Friday.
The woman died on the spot. The accused fled, leaving their 15-day-old infant crying next to the dead mother. The police are on the lookout for him.
Hearing the cry of the child, brother-in-law Sonu Sonkar broke the lock of the door and entered the room. He then saw his sister-in-law lying in a pool of blood. Other members of the family were called and taken to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College, where doctors declared her brought dead.
The accused Rajesh Sonkar is a resident of Dehri-on-Sone in Bihar, while Vandana Devi belonged to Azamgarh UP. The police took the body in possession and sent it again to Hazaribagh Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
The police said that the process of FIR would be completed only after the arrival of the parents of the deceased.
The younger brother of the accused Sonu Kumar Sonkar and his mother are being interrogated. They told the police that Rajesh was married a year ago. 15 days ago, Vandana gave birth to a baby boy.
Rajesh’s father Ramadhar Sonkar does fruit business living in Hazaribagh while he sold Manihari’s goods on a handcart in Jhanda Chowk. They all lived in a rented house in Mallah Toli.
According to the information, Rajesh used to have doubts about his wife. A mobile camera was placed behind her at all times. He would become suspicious whenever she even spoke on the phone. There was a fight between the two every day. He started chasing her to such an extent that he even left his business for a month.
Raids have been intensified in search of him by collecting all evidence.
