Ranchi: In a key development in the money laundering case linked to senior IAS officer Pooja Singhal, the special PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) court in Ranchi has allowed Rizwan Nazir, a resident of Bhubaneswar, Odisha, to represent Pulse Sanjeevani Healthcare Hospital in the ongoing trial proceedings. This means Rizwan will now officially appear in court on behalf of the hospital, replacing Abhishek Jha, Pooja Singhal’s husband.
Court Approves New Representative
During the hearing, the defence informed the court that a resolution was passed at the hospital’s Board of Directors meeting held on July 31, 2024, authorising Rizwan Nazir as the hospital’s official representative in the case. The application for this change was filed by M/s Pulse Sanjeevani Healthcare, requesting the court to allow their appointed nominee to participate in the legal proceedings instead of Abhishek Jha.
The Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) Special Public Prosecutor strongly opposed this application, but the court ultimately permitted the change.
Why Pulse Hospital Is Under Scrutiny
Pulse Hospital, located on Bariatu Road in Ranchi, has been named an accused in the money laundering case connected to Pooja Singhal. The ED alleges that ₹3 crore in cash was handed over to Panchvati Builders for the purchase of land for the hospital — a transaction suspected to be part of the laundering of unaccounted money.
As a result, the hospital was implicated under PMLA provisions. Investigators have maintained that the property deal involving unaccounted cash links directly to irregularities in the case involving Pooja Singhal.
