New Delhi, July 28: Following the 3-0 series victory over the West Indies in their own backyard, India kept their third-place finish in the latest men’s ODI Team Rankings.
The Shikhar Dhawan-led India showed they have plenty of depth waiting in the wings as they completed a sweep of the Caribbean team on Wednesday with an overwhelming 119-run victory in the third and final match, despite missing a number of first-choice players.
With the victory, India won their third straight ODI series, raising their rating to 110, four points higher than their arch-rival Pakistan (106), which is currently in the fourth position.
India has now won eight of its past nine ODI games after being swept by South Africa on the road at the beginning of the year.
With a rating of 128, New Zealand holds the top spot in the team ODI rankings by itself, while England (119), which recently lost a series to India and drew a series with South Africa, is still in second place.
Pakistan, led by skipper Babar Azam, is currently engaged in an exciting two-match Test series against Sri Lanka and remains in fourth place.
With a three-match series against the Dutch in the Netherlands next month, Pakistan will have the opportunity to gain some ground on India and other nations that are ranked above them when the Test series is over.
India will play their three-game ODI series at the same time, followed by a brief tour of Zimbabwe in the middle of August.
