Jamshedpur, Feb 13: The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examination began today with over 6,000 students from around 35 city-based private English medium schools appearing for the examination.
The first day’s paper was in the English language. The examination was conducted in various centres between 2 pm and 5 pm.
Candidates failing to clear the exams this year will get a second chance by taking compartmental tests, which will be held in July.
The CISCE which conducts the examination has banned digital watches and electronic gadgets inside examination halls.
School authorities informed said that special arrangements have been made for the 10th and 12th examinations. A flying squad has been constituted to keep a vigil on the examination process.
The examination will continue till March 31 and the results are expected to be declared in the second week of May.
A principal of a Bistupur-based private ICSE school said that students found the paper on the first day easy.
Education sources said though several students answering ICSE were quite nervous initially, things became easier once they started answering.
The CBSE Class X and XII examinations would kick off on February 15.
