Jamshedpur, Nov 18: IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre issued a forecast of dry weather in Jharkhand today.
A bulletin issued by the Met department said that the chill has intensified and that the night readings were expected to witness a further fall in the next 72- hours.
The chill has intensified in Jharkhand with places like Simdega, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Daltonganj and Deoghar recording temperatures two to three degrees below normal due to dominating north-westerly winds.
IMD suggested that several districts might witness a sub-10 chill in the next 72- hours or so.
No significant synoptic system prevails over Jharkhand, only north-westerly to northerly wind at a lower level prevails over the state.
The Western Disturbance as a trough in mid-tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 Km above mean sea level was running roughly along Long. 75°E to the north of Lat. 32°N.
On Friday, Simdega recorded the west minimum reading on with the mercury plummeting three notches below normal to 10.2 °C.
Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of around 12°C while Jamshedpur was a bit warmer at 14 °C. Weathermen said the dominating north-westerly wind was causing the night temperature to plummet.
With a dip in temperatures, the early morning fog was also witnessed at several places across Jharkhand on Friday, including Jamshedpur. The early morning fog reduced surface visibility affecting traffic at several places.
