Jamshedpur, Feb 7: Do not pack your woollens, also keep rain gears ready.
India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Ranchi and Patna centers have sounded a rain alert in Jharkhand this mid-week, due to the impact of a fresh western disturbance brewing in the northern parts of the country.
A climate analyst said, ” A fresh western disturbance is brewing over northwest India and this would impact Jharkhand’s weather on February 9 and 10 (Wednesday and Thursday), resulting in light to moderate rain especially in northern and central Jharkhand.”
According to him, the western disturbance will result in the formation of an induced cyclonic circulation which in turn would trigger thunderstorm activity and rain in different parts of the state.
Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed over Jharkhand during the past 48 hours with dominating north-westerly currents which resulted in an abrupt fall in minimum readings.
Sub-10 cold prevailed in most districts on Sunday. The lowest minimum temperature of 7.9°C was recorded at Garhwa.
State capital Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of around 8 °C for the last two days while Jamshedpur recorded around 10 °C.
Daltonganj, Giridih, Bokaro, Deoghar, Koderma and several other places recorded minimum readings between 9-10°C.
Met statistics revealed that the minimum reading witnessed a downward trend in several other districts during the past 24-hours.
