Virat Kohli hit 186 earlier as India amassed 571 runs and defeated Australia by 91 runs after the first inning. India continued its match at 289 for 3 and was helped by Virat Kohli’s marathon effort and Axar Patel’s 79.
In the last session of Day 4 of the Test, which has been moving slowly so far, Kohli produced a chanceless performance, hitting 186 as India totalled 571, securing a 91-run advantage.
Australia, who put nightwatchman Matthew Kuhnemann and Travis Head to start the innings, managed to withstand a few tense moments as they went to Stumps at 3 for 0, still trailing by 88 runs, as play came to an end.
