Chiba, July 13: India put on a dominant performance, placing ninth overall and winning two gold, two silver and three bronze medals at the 64th International Math Olympiad, which was held in Chiba, Japan.

Atul Shatavart Nadig and Arjun Gupta won the gold medal, followed by Ananda Bhaduri and Siddharth Choppara won the silver, and Adhitya Mangudy, Venkata Ganesh and Archit Manas won the bronze.

India’s ninth-place finish is also one of its best-ever performances, matching that of 2002. India’s ranking in the previous two rounds was 26 and 24, respectively, so this is a major improvement.

India performed better, placing seventh, only in 1998 and 2001.

The overall score for India was a thunderous 92.79 per cent.

Prithwijit De served as the captain of the Indian team and Sahil Mhaskar served as his deputy.

In 2022, Norway hosted the IMO’s 63rd edition and the UK will host the IMO’s 65th edition next year.
