New Delhi, Dec 1: In view of India assuming the G-20 presidency on Thursday, hundreds of government protected sites will be illuminated and emblazoned with the G-20 insignia from December 1 to December 7 throughout the nation.
A senior official told news agency ANI that 100 ASI sites, including those on the UNESCO World Heritage List, would be illuminated for one week. According to him, the nature and layout of the location will determine the size of the logo projected on the monuments.
In India, there are a total of 40 cultural and natural sites that have been designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The remaining sites are under the jurisdiction of the Archaeological Survey of India.

The logo will be shown at the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Fathepur Sikri, all three of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites on a unipole installed nearby.
The Hall and Currency Building in Kolkata, the ruins of Nalanda University, the monuments at Rajgir in Bihar, the Basilica of Bom Jesus and Church of Our Lady of Rosary in Goa, Tipu Sultan’s Palace and the Gol Gumbaz in Karnataka, the Buddhist sites of Sanchi, and the Gwalior Fort in Madhya Pradesh are some additional sites.
On Thursday, India is set to take over as G-20 President. For India’s G20 presidency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed a logo, a theme, and a website on November 8.
