New Delhi, May 10: After defeating the United States 4-1 in Bangkok, India advanced to the quarterfinals of the ongoing BWF Uber Cup 2022.
PV Sindhu, the world number seven, began the match against Jennie Gai in Group D. Sindhu completely dominated both games, winning 21-10, 21-11 in a match that lasted 26 minutes.
Tanisha Crasto and Treesa Jolly of the women’s doubles team defeated Francesca Corbett and Allison Lee of the women’s singles team 21-19, 21-10 in a 34-minute match.
The third match pitted Aakarshi Kashyap against Esther Shi. In 34 minutes, the American shuttler lost 18-21, 11-21. Then Lauren Lam and Kodi Tang Lee defeated Shruti Mishra and Simran Singhi. The Indian pair came back to win the second game 21-17 after losing the first game 12-21. The Americans, on the other hand, won the third game 21-13. Ashmita Chaliha faced Natalie Chi in the final match. In 31 minutes, the Indian shuttler defeated her opponent 21-18, 21-13.
Notably, team India had previously defeated Canada 4-1 in their first encounter. India has qualified for the quarterfinals after two consecutive victories.
