The US refused to include India or Japan in the newly announced security agreement with Australia and Britain. The partnership between the US, UK and Australia was named AUKUS, on the name of the three countries. This AUKUS was signed last week to deal with the challenges related to the Indo-Pacific region.
The deal is being seen from the perspective of controlling China’s aggression in the Indo-Pacific region, but the US has refused to include India or Japan in this partnership.
“The announcement of AUKUS last week was not meant to be an indication, and I think this is the message the French president also sent to that there is no one else who will be involved in security in the Indo-Pacific”, said Jen Psaki (White House Press Secretary)
“AUKUS? What would it become, Jaukus ?”, Psaki said while answering the questions that if countries like Japan and India would be a part of this new security agreement.
Notably, on September 15 the United States announced a new alliance with Australia and Britain for the Indo-Pacific region with a new Australian nuclear submarine fleet.
