India has created history at the IAU 24-Hour Asia and Oceania Championship held in Japan, clinching a total of 5 medals, including a Team Gold in the men’s category after covering an extraordinary combined distance of 815.833 kilometres.

Indian Men’s Team Clinches Gold

Led by Amar Singh Devanda, the Indian men’s team completed 226 laps covering 282.881 kilometres to secure the gold medal. Geeno Antony finished second individually with 272.894 kilometres across 218 laps. The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) celebrated the achievement on social media, calling India’s ultra runners the champions of Asia-Oceania once again — having won in 2022, 2024, and now 2026.

Indian Women’s Team Wins Bronze

In the women’s category, the Indian women’s team claimed the bronze medal with a combined distance of 667.722 kilometres. Tenzin Dolma put in a standout individual performance, covering 228.939 kilometres to finish fourth individually.

Japan and Australia Round Out the Podium

Host nation Japan, led by Masaki Kimoto, won the men’s team silver with 754.726 kilometres, while Australia took the men’s team bronze with 732.525 kilometres, driven by Phil Gore’s impressive 253.392 kilometres. In the women’s event, Japan’s Miho Nakata won individual gold with 261.170 kilometres, helping her team clinch the women’s team gold with 707.357 kilometres. Australia took women’s team silver with 684.450 kilometres.

81 Athletes from 9 Federations Competed
