Jamshedpur, April 1: About 34 Ramnavami jhanda processions out of the 150 plus Akharas will be taken out in the steel city on Saturday, bringing the Ramnavami festivity to an end.

The rest of the Ramnavami processions were brought out on Friday night after hours-long discussion and consultation held between the district administration and the resentful Akhara organisers after a bottleneck had cropped up due to the administrative restrictions which had prevented the Akhara organisers to use trailers and DJ in the processions.

A majority of the Akhara organisers had refused to take out jhanda processions in protest on Friday, the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, Vijaya Jadhav had convened a meeting of the Akhara organisers at the local Circuit House in the evening.  The Jamshedpur MP, Bidyut Baran Mahto was also called in the meeting.

After listening to the grievances of the Akhara organisers and the opinion taken from the MP, the deputy commissioner called off the restrictions, paving the way for the Akhara organisers to take out the processions in the way they wanted them to happen.

Despite it was too late for the organisers to embark upon taking out to take out the processions over 100 Akhara organisers began the processions and immersed the jhanda in the rivers Kharkai and Subernarekha by midnight.

The Akhara organisers led by the central Akhara Committee president, Abhay Singh had refused to take out the processions after the police had seized a trailer that was being decorated for the Ramnavami procession at Aam Bagaan ground in Sakchi on Thursday.

Abhay Singh had also declared for Jamshedpur bandh today, which was also called off after the impasse was over following the administrative restrictions were lifted.
