Jamshedpur, Feb 25: A facility of canopy walk is going to be set up at Makulakocha in the foothills of Dalma soon. The proposed facility, about 16 km away from the heart of the steel city along the NH-33 on way to Chandil, is aimed at providing the visitors to the hills an opportunity for adventurous fun away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The desirous project is going to be set up by the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary and preparation for this is on. Revealing the proposed facility, the divisional forest officer, of Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, Abhishek Kumar said that the canopy walk will be made of steel structure.

“It will be 200 metres long on a height of 25 feet. Those who will aspire to enjoy the facility will have to climb an elevated platform before doing the walk,” said Kumar while talking to lagatar24.com.

The DFO pointed out necessary safety measures will be in place so that women, elderly persons and even children can walk on the bridge-like structure.

The senior forest department officer, when queried, said it will be ticketed facility but the ticket cost will be moderately low initially.

“The facility will create employment for the youths living in the revenue villages in Dalma besides providing the visitors with an amazing experience in the serene atmosphere of the sprawling hills, ” Kumar observed.

It may be mentioned here that about 150 people, including ecotourists, use to visit Dalma every day. While most of the visitors return back the same day having reached the Dalma top, several visitors tend to stay at the guest houses for experiencing the ecology in the hills at night.
