Jamshedpur: Tata Steel staff gets death for killing wife, 2 daughters, teacher

Jamshedpur, April 6: Deepak Kumar, the accused of the sensational quadruple murder case of Kadma, was sentenced to capital punishment by the court of additional district judge-IV on Thursday.

The ADJ-IV, Rajendra Prasad Sinha had on Saturday convicted Deepak Kumar after finding him guilty in the case which was registered with the Kadma thana on April 12, 2021.

While pronouncing the sentence, the court declared that the convict Deepak Kumar is to be hanged till death.  Apart from capital punishment, the court has also slapped a penalty of Rs 50,000 on the convict.

Deepak Kumar, who was posted in the Fire Brigade department of Tata Steel had killed his wife Veena Kumari, two minor daughters, Shrabani and Shanvi, and a tuition teacher Rinki Ghosh at his residence on Tista Road in Kadma on April 12, 2021. Deepak Kumar had first killed wife and his two children and later in the day murdered the tuition teacher after raping her.

Besides committing these murders, Deepak Kumar had also tried to kill his nephew and nephew’s friend at his residence, but the two somehow managed to escape the spot with grievous injuries.

After committing the quadruple murder, the assailant fled the steel city the same day and was eventually arrested from Dhanbad on April 16 following a concerted effort made by the Jamshedpur police.
