Jamshedpur girl gets prestigious Times Women Achievers Award

Jamshedpur, Aug 24: Jamshedpur girl  Cheri Agarwal (30) has been honoured with the prestigious Times Women Achievers Award for her work in the field of media literacy and journalism.

Her brother Ankit Agarwal received the award on behalf of Cherry at Hyatt Regency, Dehradun (Uttarakhand) on Wednesday.

Uttarakhand Governor Lt. J. Gurmit Singh was the chief guest at the function.

Cheri Agarwal is currently serving UNESCO as the Asia Pacific Regional Co-ordinator in the Media and Information Literacy Youth Committee.

She holds two master’s degrees from the world-renowned London School of Economics UK and the Indian Institute of Journalism and New Media.

Her works have won prestigious awards like the 2020 United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Award for Ladli Media and Advertising for Gender Sensitivity.

She has been a delegate scholar at the 2020 Conference on Asian and International Relations at Harvard College, USA and Media and Literacy at UNESCO’s Global Youth Forum and has been invited as a media literacy expert and speaker at UNESCO’s Global Youth Forum and in panel discussions in Paris and Sweden.

In her professional life, she has been continuously working in the fields of media and information literacy and gender and youth rights.

She has received many honours for her research work from prestigious universities in many countries of Europe at the international level.

Cheri Agarwal (Ringsia) is the daughter of Bimal Agarwal (Ringsia), a city-based businessman and social worker.

She completed her schooling from DBMS English School and studied at Symbiosis College, Pune and the London School of Economics.
