Jamshedpur, April 30: As the back-to-back Lok Sabha and Jharkhand Assembly elections are coming closer political atmosphere in the steel city and beyond is warming up.
But here in the steel city, the political activists seem to have turned more enterprising after an obscene video clipping allegedly involving state health minister Banna Gupta and a woman went viral of late.
Following the video which was released by a senior BJP leader through Twitter on April 23, there has been a virtual war between Jamshedpur East legislator Saryu Roy and the health minister Banna Gupta, causing the two to resort to engaging in the act of mud-slinging at each other.
In the 30-second-long video clipping a woman was allegedly seen engaged in conversation with the minister over some obscene content, triggering the controversy.
Saryu Roy has demanded the administration to register a case against the health minister on the basis of the video clipping. He has also demanded the administration to seize a sophisticated pistol (G44 Glock) from the minister as the firearm in question is prohibited for the public domain in the country.
Though the minister had prompted to lodge a complaint with the Bistupur-based Cyber thana, seeking the truth behind the said video clipping, the police are yet to succeed in unfolding the mystery behind it all.
A senior police official claimed they will have to not only find out the truth but also will have to detect whether there is any conspiracy angle involved in all this.
The police officer said the investigation into the matter is on and they will carry out a forensic test.
A social outfit “Hindu-Muslim Ekta Manch” on Saturday took out a procession to the East Singhbhum DC’s office and demanded the resignation of the health minister until the ongoing probe into the video clipping episode is not completed.
