Jamshedpur : Steel Superfast Express cancelled due to agitation

Jamshedpur, June 11 : A section of passengers created ruckus at the Tatanagar railway station this morning as they came to know about cancellation of the 12814 Tatanagar-Howrah Steel Express.

 

” I was not aware of the cancellation of Steel Express. I came to know about it only after reaching the railway station. I was supposed to appear for an interview in Kolkata this afternoon. I will not be able to attend the interview, ” said Surajit Chatterjee, an insurance professional and a resident of Telco Colony.

 

Train services in Howrah-Kharagpur Section of South Eastern Railway have been affected since yesterday due to a public agitation at Chengail and Fuleswar Stations and Santragachi level crossing gate in Howrah- Kharagpur railway section blocking all lines.

 

As a result of the agitation which continued till late evening of Friday, several trains were cancelled on Friday including18043 Howrah-Bhadrak Baghajatin Express, 18003 Howrah-Adra Shiromani Express, 12813 Howrah-Tatanagar Steel Express and 12827 Howrah-Purulia Express and 08001/08002 Howrah-Digha Special train.

Today, apart from Steel Express , the 18004 Adra-Howrah Shiromani Express, the 12828 Purulia-Howrah Express and the 18044 Bhadrak-Howrah Express remained cancelled.

On Friday as many as 15 EMU local trains were cancelled.

Apart from this, a number of Mail/Express and EMU local trains were detained at different stations enroute.

A railway spokesperson at Garden Reach said that the Howrah-Mumbai CSMT Gitanjali Express and 12870 Howrah-Mumbai CSMT Weekly Express will now run on normal route instead of diverted route as notified earlier.
