Jamshedpur, Aug 30: The Tata Main Hospital (TMH) has received the coveted National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) accreditation with effect from July 21, 2022.

The mission of NABH, a constituent board of Quality Council of India, is to operate accreditation and allied programs in collaboration with stakeholders focusing on patient safety and quality of healthcare based upon national/international standards, through the process of self and external evaluation.

NABH standards are accredited by the International Society for Quality in Health Care. NABH standards focus on patient safety and quality of the delivery of services by the hospitals in the changing healthcare environment.

There is a total of 651 objective elements, out of which 102 are in the core category which will be mandatorily assessed during each assessment and 459 are in the commitment category which is assessed during the final assessment.

Accreditation in healthcare goes beyond just infrastructure for a hospital. It is about process and outcome. The objectives of accreditation are patient safety & promotion of evidence-based medicine.

With 983 beds, 18 specialities and super-specialists in 12 disciplines, TMH is one of the biggest private hospitals in the country and one of the very few hospitals in this region to have gained this prestigious NABH accreditation.

With about 15 lakh OPD footfalls and 60,000 admissions, TMH is also one of the busiest hospitals in this part of the country.

TMH, since its inception in 1908, has dedicated itself to the service of Tata Steel employees, their families and the residents of Jamshedpur and its peripheral areas.

Further, it has always been committed to create a culture of maximum patient safety to improve health outcomes and enrich lives.

This NABH recognition sends the message to every staff member that following processes and best practices makes us the one of the most reliable healthcare providers to the community.

The quality journey of TMH started in 2010 when it received ISO9001:2008 certification.

It continues to be certified to the latest edition of ISO9001:2015. It received its NABL accreditation first in 2014 and the pathology department continues its NABL certification till date.

The NABH journey started with the pre-accreditation level NABH certification in April, 2016 and the continued effort of the hospital and Tata Steel leadership led to the NABH accreditation to the latest 5th edition guidelines.
