Jamshedpur, Sept 1: Close on the heels of the recent demolition of the Supertech Twin Towers in Noida, Jamshedpur will witness a similar exercise on Sunday, September 4.
Tata Steel will undertake a planned implosion of an obsolete unit (Model Repair Shop of 12-metre height) at its non-operational Coke Oven facility (Coke Oven Battery 5&6) on Sunday.
Sarvesh Kumar, chief of Corporate Communications, Tata Steel said that this is part of the company’s larger endeavour to introduce an advanced environment-friendly new Coke Oven facility.
According to him, the demolition exercise will be carried out by the contract partner Edifice & Jet Demolition South Africa.

Edifice has the requisite expertise and experience globally in such context.
The two firms-Mumbai’s Edifice Engineering and South African firm Jet Demolition had carried out the pulling down exercise of the Supertech Twin Towers in Noida on Sunday, August 28 successfully. With over 3,700 Kg explosives the illegal Supertech Twin Towers in Noida were razed down in a matter of seconds.
The 12-meter height structure at the Coke Oven facility of Tata Steel in Jamshedpur will be reduced to rubble using the waterfall implosion technique.
The company spokesperson said all necessary approvals and NOCs have been secured from the relevant authorities.
“The company has undertaken all measures to ensure safe and environment-friendly execution, ” he said.
Notably, in the next couple of months, the company will execute implosions of three more obsolete units – a coal tower and two chimneys, at the Coke Oven facility.
