Jamshedpur, August 18: A 26-year-old youth and a girl of the same age were found lying burnt at a hotel along Kalimati road under the Sakchi thana area early on Friday morning.
The victims identified as Rakesh Gupta and Neera Das were found burnt under mysterious conditions in room No 103 of the Hotel Chandra at about 5.30 am today.
Both the burn victims have been admitted to the Tata Main Hospital’s burn care unit where their condition is described as serious.
On knowing about the incident, the police started an investigation into the circumstances under which the two were burnt.
When the police summoned the shift in-charge Vikash Gorai to the Sakchi thana for interrogation, the hotel management sealed room No 103 in view of the ongoing police investigation.
An official of the hotel management said that Vikash Gupta who is a resident of East Plant Bustee in Burmamines had booked the room in the name of Neera Das.
“Neera Das is a resident of the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha and was supposed to turn up at the hotel around 5 am. The girl came on time and entered the room where Vikash was already in. But within a few minutes of her arrival, sounds of screaming started coming out of the room. On hearing the screams, the hotel staff opened the door to find both the girl and the youth lying seriously burnt, ” said the official while talking to lagatar24.com.
The official said as Vikash was a local guy they informed his family members who turned up at the spot instantly and rushed both the burnt persons to Tata Main Hospital.
