Hazaribag, Dec 30: With relatives not allowed to perform the last rite of Isha Alia alias Riya Kumari at her village Mahudi in Chouparan, it was done in Muktidham of Hazaribag town on Friday. Isha’s brother Ajay Kumar Rana said as his sister married a man from another caste which angered his community men, they didn’t allow them to perform her last rite there.

Due to this, her dead body was brought to town and the last rites were performed in Muktidham of Khirgaon locality.

Isha was murdered on the Ranchi-Kolkata highway by her producer husband who was arrested by Bengal police. Isha’s dead body was brought to her elder sister’s house from where the last journey started.

Many from Chouparan village also came and said what the Rana community did is not acceptable. If she had married another caste man, who would stop anyone from the last rite? It was her right to get cremated at her birthplace, added many.

Those gathered at the Muktidham said Prakash needed strict punishment for killing Isha. He should be hanged after a trial in the fast court, they added.
