Ranchi, March 4: CPI-ML legislator Binod Singh today cornered the state government on the issue of malnutrition as BJP legislators boycotted the house on the issue of 27 percent reservation to OBCs after the session in the assembly resumed at 12.05 pm after its adjournment at 11.10am.

Singh asked whether the state government has any plan to pay the remuneration to 10,000 Poshan Sakhis due for the last 10 months and continue their services in all those six districts of the state where they are working to fight against the problem of malnutrition.

On which concerned minister Joba Manji replied that the remuneration will be paid as the government in its supplementary budget provided an amount of Rs 38 crore for the same but regarding the continuation of their service anything could be said after proper discussion with the chief minister as for the same a policy decision is required.

Majhi, however, expressed her commitment taking the issue saying ‘not only in six districts, but the state government also wants to remove malnutrition from the entire state and for this, any decision can be taken only after assessment of financial burden and outcome.’

Majhi said the state government faced problems in continuing the programme as the union government stopped giving any fund for the same since 2017.

As the matter was being discussed, a number of legislators including Saryu Roy,  Sudesh Mahto, Deepika Pandey Singh and Pradeep Yadav supported Singh on the issue and asked the government for a budgetary allocation for the same.

A few minutes after the issue was raised through call attention notice, the house was adjourned till 2pm.

Earlier the issue was raised, the speaker took notices of zero hours. Through notices legislators demanded action against a CO in Koderma for issuing receipt against GM land, plan for developing Gaurishanker temple as a tourist destination, the appointment of Sharmik Mitra, connecting the road between Rajrappa and Hundru falls, exemption of small vehicles from toll tax on Ormanjhi toll plaza, probe into the Morhabadi suicide case, proper compensation to landowners giving their land for NTPC projects and proper arrangement of paddy procurement besides others.
