Ranchi, Dec 9: The Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahato on Friday said that deaths due to hunger is the most unfortunate. He was speaking as the chief guest at the foundation day celebration of the Jharkhand State Food Commission.
He further added that officials should make sure that the grain that sustains all human life is brought to every last person in the state. He also suggested the establishment of consumer forums in every district of the state, to make sure that everyone can bring their problems to the commission and get the help they need.
“We are yet to become self-sufficient in the field of food, and in such a situation, it is important that the benefits of the schemes of the government reach the common beneficiaries. There is a need to improve the system more so that no one remains hungry in the state. The Commission has taken it seriously, and this workshop is proof of it. Along with this, honoring the officials will send a good message,” the speaker added.
Jharkhand State Food Commission Chairman Himanshu Shekhar Chaudhary, while addressing the officials from all over the district said that it is the constitutional and statutory responsibility of the commission to implement the provisions of the Food Security Act in the state. The Commission has also been giving priority to transparency in the discharge of its obligations and duties.
“Monitoring of schemes like public distribution system centers, food provided in schools, Integrated Child Development Scheme, Anganwadi and Janani Suraksha Yojana and complaints related to them are being resolved by the commission. With the tag line of ‘Adhikar Jaane Adhikar Maange’, the commission has resolved about 1300 out of 1700 complaints till November 30 and the process of resolving the rest of the complaints is going on,” he added.
Chaudhary also informed that the commission has also issued a WhatsApp number 9142622194 for complaints. He further informed that complaints can be registered through website, e-mail and post. “After this initiative, a large number of people are registering their complaints in an easy and simple way,” he added.
Notably, the Jharkhand State Food Commission celebrated its foundation day on Friday. The commission also felicitated its employees for exemplary work on the occasion. Notably, the commission has decided to celebrate its foundation day every year on December 9 because, on this day, the rules of the commission were approved in 2015.
The second session of the programme saw a workshop organized wherein District Grievance Redressal Officers from across the state interacted with Commission officials and food experts.
In this sequence, Bokaro’s DGRO Sadat Anwar was awarded for speedy disposal of complaints received on the Commission’s website, Deoghar’s DGRO Chandrabhushan Singh was rewarded for disposal of complaints received on WhatsApp and West Singhbhum’s DGRO Santosh Kumar Sinha was rewarded for speedy disposal of complaints received by post.
Meanwhile, Giridih DGRO Wisson Bhengra, Bokaro DGRO Sadat Anwar, Deoghar DGRO Chandrabhushan Singh and Gumla DGRO Sudhir Kumar Gupta were also honored for overall performance.
Jharkhand State Food Commission member Shabnam Parveen, former member Ranjana Kumari, Upendra Narayan Oraon, Ram Karan ranjan, Haldar Mahato and representatives from different districts participated were present on the occasion.
