Ranchi, Nov 25: Five criminals of a gang supplying arms and bullets to Naxalites have been arrested in Jharkhand including BSF constable Karthik Behera, retired BSF constable Arun Kumar Singh, Kumar Gurlal, Shivlal Dhawal and Hirla Guman.
Police have recovered 14 pistols, 21 magazines, 9,213 rounds of bullets, empty kiosks, detonators, bikes and mobiles from these criminals. All these criminals have been arrested in Maharashtra and Punjab.
The ATS had been directed by the DGP to unearth the supply network providing arms and bullets to extremist and criminal organizations and to arrest the criminals involved in this work. After which an intensive campaign is being run against this network by ATS. In recent days, ATS conducted intensive raids in the state of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra, apart from the state of Jharkhand. During which all these accused were arrested.
Three people, including a CRPF soldier, who supplied arms and bullets to Naxalites and criminals in Jharkhand, were arrested by the ATS on Tuesday (November 16). Those arrested included CRPF soldier Avinash Kumar alias Chunnu Sharma (29), Rishi Kumar (49) and Pankaj Kumar Singh (48). 450 rounds of 5.56 mm bullets were seized on their spot. After this, ATS arrested Kamendra Singh, a resident of Chirkunda in West Bengal, while taking action in Dhanbad on November 18. Two pistols, 14 cartridges and three magazines were also recovered from him. Based on the information given by all these arrested accused, ATS has taken action and arrested four other criminals.
Avinash alias Chunnu was posted as a constable in CRPF 182 in Pulwama. He was absent from work for four months after coming home on leave. He was reinstated in the CRPF in the year 2011 at Mokama Group Center. Earlier he was posted in 112 Battalion CRPF Latehar and 204 Battalion Cobra Jagdalpur.
During interrogation, it has come to the fore that a large number of AK-47 and INSAS rifles have been provided to the Naxalites by the accused. Apart from this, weapons and bullets have also been provided to various criminal gangs, including the Aman Sahu gang. Apart from Avinash, Aman Sahu, the CRPF soldier was in contact with Harendra Yadav, a criminal lodged in Sherghati Jail and Lallu Khan lodged in Gaya Jail.
Illegal weapons to extremists and organized criminal gangs are being carried by gangs operating in the border area of ??Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh and the Buldhana district of Maharashtra. After getting information about this, ATS has taken this action. ATS is busy taking further action on the information of the arrested criminals.
