Ranchi, May 27: Some 22 years after, the Jharkhand state will have 44 Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVIs) to ensure that motor vehicles are right condition and in the hands of right persons.

This is likely to be possible as the Jharkhand State Selection Commission (JSSC) has published an advertisement for the appointment of 1556 junior engineers, including 44 MVIs, who used to be mechanical engineers.

Last date for filling the form for the posts is June 7 and the form has to be filled online. Details of the post have been given on the website of recruitment agency https://www.jssc.nic.in/notices/advertisements. Apart from the website also inform about the syllabus for recruitment examination.

The development took place 40 days after the Jharkhand High Court dropped contempt proceedings against transport secretary K Srinivasan on the latter’s apology and assurance to send the requisition for 44 MVIs to the recruitment agency.

On April 13, the high court starting contempt proceedings against him had issued a bailable warrant directing the SSP to ensure the secretary’s appearance.

The proceedings started after the court observed that the senior bureaucrat sought two-week time on March 29 to file a reply in a petition involving appointment of regular motor vehicle inspectors (MVIs) in the transport department but failed.

The petition was filed by one Sunil Kumar Paswan saying that as many as 49 posts of MVIs are lying vacant in the transport department for more than 10 years but nothing was being done to fill it. According to him, officials of other departments are being deputed as MVI.

Hearing the petition, the court had directed the department secretary to file a reply as to when the requisition will be sent, when advertisement will be published and when the process of appointment will get completed.

On April 17, the Jharkhand High Court dropped contempt proceedings after he apologized for not filing an affidavit in the court on time.

Assigning reason for the delay Srinivasan told the court that he was ‘on leave since April 6’.
