Ranchi, Sept.16: Taking a step forward towards women empowerment, Chief Minister Hemant Soren today brought as many as 25 lakh women associated with Sakhi Mandal under insurance cover and started first Didi Helpline Call Centre, from where one can get information regarding activities of Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) by dialling toll-free number 18004190400 and 18004197400.
An amount of Rs 13.45 crore was given to JSLPS to successfully run the work of women empowerment. A cheque worth Rs 10,000 each to the two beneficiaries of Phulo-Jhano Ashirvad Yojna was also given.
On the occasion, the chief minister also felicitated those women who chose another option for their livelihood leaving the traditional profession of selling Hadia-Dadu.
“The state will prosper only when women and men come together,” CM Soren said on the occasion. He said women should not bother to market their produce saying that the government will purchase their products.
Rural development minister Alamgir Alam echoed the same saying ‘women empowerment is the mission of the government.’
A beneficiary of Phulo-Jhano Ashirwad Yojna from Khunti, Anima Herenj, got emotional when the chief minister felicitated her for adopting a respectable source of earning. Herenj earlier used to sell Hadia but getting money from the government she started another respectable business.
Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh besides principal secretary to CM Rajeev Arun Ekka, JSLPS CEO Nancy Sahay and officers of the concerned department were present on the occasion.
