Ranchi, July 7: The Delhi Police has arrested Jharkhand cadre IFS officer Anshuman Rajhansh on the charge of raping a girl on the false promise of marriage. 2020 batch IFS Anshuman Rajhansh was evading arrest right after an FIR was lodged against him on May 15 at Rajendra Nagar police station in New Delhi. He was arrested from a hotel at Sealdah in West Bengal.
The accused is a native of Deoghar district. His father is a retired assistant engineer and mother is a school teacher. After training at Indian Forest Academy Institute he was posted in Chaibasa. But in the meantime an arrest warrant was issued and he could not join.
According to information, Anshuman Rajhansh and the victim came close and became friends in 2017 during their preparations for the civil services examination. The victim is said to be a resident of Thane district and she completed her B. Tech from IIT Delhi. It is alleged that Anshuman Rajhansh promised to marry her and made physical relations. In 2018 he was selected for Indian Railway Traffic Service. Whenever the victim pressed him for marriage he promised that he would marry once he got a good ranking in the examination.
The victim said that in 2020 he finally succeeded in the examination but he refused to marry her. The complainant claimed that to fool her, the accused married him in a temple. But he declined to get photographed.
