Ranchi, March 2: Legislator Deepak Birua today raised his voice against partial loan provision for tribal people.
He called the attention of the government towards this problem, saying while non-tribal government employees get loan for house construction for a period of 15 to 20 years while tribals are given loans only for five years.
Minister Joba Manjhi said that the matter will be taken up in the cabinet after the law department gives its opinion and the Tribal Advisory Council approves the same after proper discussions on the provisions of the CNT Act and SPT Act.
Though Birua said that proper amendments have already been done in the said act and the advocate general has already given its opinion in the matter saying that there is nothing wrong if they are given loan period for the same period non-tribals are getting, Manjhi remained stuck to her reply.
Finally, Chief Minister Hemant Soren intervened and expressed his solidarity with the legislator on the issue saying he has already discussed the matter with banks. He said not only tribal government employees, tribals, who are not government employees are facing problems in getting loans from banks. He said even getting a loan for education is a problem for tribes. He assured proper discussion and proper solution for all in the matter.
