Ranchi, May 12: Chief Minister Hemant Soren today inaugurated the Tata Cancer Hospital & Research Center at Kanke in the Jharkhand’s capital.

At present there is an arrangement of 82 beds with OPD in the hospital. There is a plan of expansion in the future. Its foundation stone was laid by Ratan Tata and the then Chief Minister Raghubar Das on November 10, 2018. The OPD and indoor treatment started in October 2022. Here all the tests and treatment of cancer including radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other facilities will be available.

With its introduction, cancer patients of Jharkhand are going to get a lot of relief. They will no longer need to move to metropolitan cities like Delhi-Mumbai for cancer treatment. Cancer patients will not have to go for treatment in metropolitan cancer hospitals other than TMH Mumbai. Presently cancer patients of Jharkhand are treated in RIMS.

The .OPD is being operated in this Tata Cancer Hospital for one year. Now the treatment of indoor cancer patients will also start here. Out of the total 82 beds, 41 beds are reserved for the local people. The hospital will also have 14 operation theaters and a 28-bed ICU. Apart from this, a residential complex will also be built here.

This hospital has been built by Tata Trust. The special thing about this hospital is that along with treatment, there will also be research on cancer. The hospital is to be developed on the lines of the Tata Memorial Center in Mumbai. The foundation stone of this hospital was laid on October 10, 2018. Now in about three years this hospital is ready to operate smoothly.

Chief minister Soren, on the occasion, expressed his commitment for better health facilities in Jharkhand and all support to Tata group in the field of health and overall development of Jharkhand.

“Only yesterday I held a meeting in Ranchi for the road map of Medico City. It is our resolve to connect health related things in Medico City. World class machines have been installed here in the cancer hospital. In recent times, many world class machines were also installed in RIMS for the convenience of the people, due to which they are getting benefits today. Today, you must have seen that many critical surgeries are being done in RIMS or other hospitals of the state. The government will provide the necessary help to the Tata group in the field of health and overall development of the state,” he said.
