Notably, the Chief Minister started a special campaign for a month from last June to link all needy across the state to the Sarvajan Pension Yojana. However, recently the CM was informed that the husband of one Sunita Devi of Chirudih village of Dhanbad Topchanchi block had died about two years ago, but till date she was deprived of the widow pension and is now suffering. After getting information about this, the CM ordered the Dhanbad DC to investigate the matter.
Along with this, the CM on Wednesday also rejected the proposal of the Forest Department, which requested regularisation of saw mills that were operating in the state within a radius of 5 km from the forest area before 1996. In this sequence, the Chief Minister has further ordered the Forest Department to ensure that all saw mills falling within a radius of five kilometers from the forest area be removed as soon as possible.
Officials believe that “the far-reaching impact of this decision of the Chief Minister will be visible on the forests and environment of Jharkhand state in the coming days. This will check the illegal felling of wood in the forests. Also, wild fauna, forests and vegetation will be protected.”
Notably, the Forest Department has seized a huge quantity of teak wood by raiding four illegally operated saw mills located in Sarath and Sarwan blocks of Deoghar district. These saw mills have also been completely demolished by the forest department.
