Ranchi, July 8: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday gave the order for the suspension of Khunti SDM Syed Riaz Ahmed, who has been accused of sexual harassment.
Notably, Jharkhand police took the 2019 batch IAS officer Saiyad Riyaz Ahmed into its custody on July 5 following charges of sexual harassment against him. Ahmed has been working as a sub-divisional magistrate in Khunti since July 2021.
Police took the action after an FIR was registered against Amhed at Mahila Thana on July 4.
An IIT student who had come for training at the DC office lodged a complaint against him. She alleged that she became victim of sexual harassment on July 2 during a party where Ahmed made sexual advancement and she had to manage herself to escape from there.
