Ranchi, April 30: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren on Saturday attended the inaugural session of the joint conference of Chief Ministers of States and Chief Justices of High Courts held at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

The programme was participated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who spoke at length over challenges before the justice delivery and law and order system in India. Modi stressed the need to simplify the legal proceedings and it should be in a simple language and terms so that the people understand and relate.

The Prime Minister said that the local languages should be promoted in the legal proceedings. He said that the high court proceedings are mostly held in English and there is a need to promote local languages in law.

Hemant Soren later tweeted and said that he supported the view of the Prime Minister on the requirement of supporting local languages for the legal proceedings.

“Attended today’s national conference. Completely concur with hon’ble PM @narendramodi’s view that local & regional languages should be promoted at large in jurisprudence work at local level to ensure access & transparency to local communities,” he tweeted.

Hemant Soren also shared the view of his government on the judiciary. “I shared our government’s commitment to strengthen institutions of justice. We have undertaken numerous works including boosting infrastructure of courts at multiple levels. Judiciary is one of the core pillars of democracy & we believe in its independent outlook,” the CM said.
