Ranchi, May 13: The Jharkhand Eye Society was awarded the National Award for Best State Society by the All India Eye Society on May 11 at the inauguration ceremony of the 80th annual convention of All India Eye Society held at Lulu Bolgatti International Convention Center, Kochi.
Dr. Bharti Kashyap, Managing Committee Member and Co-Chairperson, Scientific Committee, received the trophy given jointly by Metro Man Sreedharan and All India Eye Society President Dr. Harbansh Lal and former President Dr. Lalit Verma for scientific and educational activities.
Dr. Bharti Kashyap, on this occasion, said that for this, the National President has directed the Management Committee members from Jharkhand to run a public awareness campaign for the training of post graduate students of Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, Eye Donation, Cataract, Diabetic Retinopathy etc. Along with this, instructions were also given to organize seminars in the entire state to inform the doctors about the new methods of eye treatment. Jharkhand was declared as the best eye society because of the best work in Jharkhand.
With this honour, the name of Jharkhand has emerged rapidly in the field of eye care on the map of the country. The contribution of the following institutions and eye doctors of the state was notable – 1. Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital, 2. Bokaro General Hospital, 3. Gandhinagar Hospital, CCL and 4. RIMS Ranchi, as well as Dr. ND Mishra, Dr. Pinky Pal, Dr. Rashi Shyam, Dr. Vivek Kedia, and Dr. Vinay Gupta.
