Daltonganj, Jan 27: Four were crushed to death and one sustained serious injuries after a speeding SUV hit them on the evening of Republic Day at Bishanpoor under the Naudeeha Bazaar police station in Palamu.
Notably, two out of the four died on the spot whereas the other two were declared brought dead in the MMCH Daltonganj. The four were identified as Ashish, Nitish, Firoz and Vivek. All were between the age of 15 to 18 years.
Moreover, the injured youngster Gaurav is undergoing treatment in the same hospital said the SDPO Chhaterpur Ajay Kumar.
Furthermore, the driver of the Scorpio, Salim Khan, is also admitted to MMCH as he became a victim of public rage but the police and sensible citizens’ swift intervention rescued him.
The Police also stopped from setting up the SUV on fire, said the locals to Lagatar24.com.
The SDPO Ajay Kumar said the driver had earlier hit a cow to death and was in mortal fear of getting caught by the people who could lynch him to death so in fear for his own life, he was driving at the neck break speed only to lose control of his Scorpio.
The accident took place at a sharp turn said the officer in charge of the Naudeeha Bazaar police station Aman Kumar Singh today. The ill-fated SUV has been seized and a case has been lodged.
Police officer Aman Kumar Singh said the Scorpio was going to Dumarya in Bihar from Jharkhand’s Chhaterpur. The accident took place at around 6:50 pm on Republic Day.
